Like millions of people spanning across at least two generations I am a big fan of the super duper hit sitcom F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and I have watched each episode at least 10 times. And I am sure I am not the only one! The show is so good, that I sometimes feel a part of the lives of these six F.R.I.E.N.D.S. may be because the show is so well- written or may be it is just because I have watched the show over a million times.
Nevertheless, every time someone got a promotion or found a job or lost their job, I felt the same exhilaration or despair that the character must have felt. Or every time someone went on a date or broke-up, I felt the same nervous energy or heartache as the character must be feeling. I loved some of the girlfriends/ boyfriends of the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. so much that I wished they had never broken up. Following are my top 3 favorite girl friends/ boy friends I wished the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. had never broken up with.
Mona and Ross
Mona was as much of a nerd as Ross was with a hot body and face. The fact that she chose Ross over Joey, kind of made her a perfect match for Ross. She didn’t get insecure when she found out Rachel was having Ross’ baby even though she found out about it in the most compromising manner. Moreover, she handled her breakup with Ross very well and was even ready to get back with him. If they did end up together, they would be happily married living their nerd lives with two sarcastic children constantly mocking them for their nerdiness. A pretty picture, isn’t it?
Monica and Pete
Monica is my second favorite character after Phoebe. She was hardworking, independent and went out of her way to help out the other F.R.I.E.N.D.S. She deserved nothing less than a rich billionaire head over heels in love with her. If Pete hadn’t taken up the task of winning the Ultimate Fighting Champion and Monica hadn’t broken up with Pete, they would have made the perfect new age couple with Monica balancing her husband, kids, and job (as a chef) brilliantly.
Joey and Phoebe
Although Joey never had any romantic feelings for Phoebe, they would have made an interesting couple. And the two of them had good chemistry. Joey’s not so the bright charming guy was a perfect match to Phoebe’s unself-conscious hippie. Moreover, both of them were the good at heart kind of fellows. And Joey made Phoebe really happy (remember the way Joey kissed Phoebe when she found out she was thirty-one instead of thirty), may be even more than Mike. They would have made a very cute unconventional couple.
These were some of the girlfriends/ boyfriends that I wished the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. ended up with. However, I think the people that the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. actually ended up were much better choices given the fact it was the decision of the writers, who actually wrote the characters.
Thank you for reading and have a nice day!
